Beyond the Blow: Introduction to Ignition Interlock Laws, Traffic Stops, and Crash Investigations

With ignition interlock violations and driving on a DUI-revoked license on the rise across Tennessee, proper roadside enforcement is more critical than ever. This session is designed to educate law enforcement officers on how to effectively apply ignition interlock laws during routine traffic stops and crash investigations. Participants will learn how to properly investigate whether an ignition interlock participant has a functioning device, what a restricted driver needs to legally operate a vehicle, and how to confidently apply the appropriate Tennessee Code Annotated (TCA) statutes to violators.
