Lynn Wood
, Mental Health America of the MidSouth

Lynn Wood has more than 20 years of experience supporting older adults and their families as they navigate life following an Alzheimer’s or dementia diagnosis. Her commitment to this work began early in her career while assisting families during highly emotional periods, often as they faced urgent long-term care decisions. These experiences shaped her belief that families deserve more proactive, informed, and compassionate support throughout the caregiving journey. Lynn is deeply committed to increasing awareness of the complexities of caregiving, recognizing both its physical and emotional demands on caregivers and their families. She is particularly passionate about helping families distinguish between typical and atypical aging, empowering them to make informed decisions with greater confidence. She also advocates for careful consideration of mental health conditions that may be misidentified as dementia, emphasizing the importance of accurate assessment and holistic care. Since joining Mental Health America of the MidSouth in 2018 as Caregiver Support Coordinator, Lynn has connected countless caregivers to essential resources and services that are often difficult to access. She is a Certified Dementia Specialist, trained in Positive Approach to Care, and an active member of the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. Through her work, Lynn continues to champion education, early intervention, and comprehensive support for both caregivers and older adults.
