Sergeant Beckman began his law enforcement career with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department in September 2002 assigned as a corrections officer in the jail. In May 2007, he joined the Blount County Sheriff’s Office as a corrections officer and later became a field training officer. He joined the Corrections Emergency Response Team in 2009 and served on the jail extraction team as well as crowd and riot control for several years.
In July 2012 he began and completed the Blount County Sheriff’s Office basic law enforcement training academy. Once out of the academy he was assigned to night shift patrol at the sheriff’s office. In 2014 he was designated to be a field training officer in patrol functions and was responsible for training new employees as well as the new recruits for the sheriff’s office.
In 2017 Sergeant Beckman was reassigned to the Traffic Safety Unit where he currently is a supervisor on the motorcycle and traffic unit. He has received training and certificates in the following fields.
